For this trip to the Algarve in Portugal, the big highlight was the visit to Vila Joya.
The expectations about this place were really huge, and I will let you know why.
Vila Joya has been considered over the years one of the best boutique resorts in the world, and proud to have this pearl here in my country!
It has been awarded as World’s Leading Boutique Resort 2011, 2012 and 2013 and also Europe’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Since 1982, Vila Joya features also one of the best restaurants in Europe, and probably in the world, facing the atlantic ocean. Their fabulous restauranted earned two michelin stars for 17 years in a row, considered in 2014 World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant and among top 50 restaurants in the world in 2015.
The person behind this project, Austrian Chef Dieter Koshina since the beginning, is also named one of the top 50 chefs in the world.
It’s the perfect place for the best portuguese seafood, prepared with love, care and knowledge.
I have prepared a special article just for the lunch at Vila Joya Restaurant, releasing soon.
Since first email correspondence, all staff was very polite and friendly, always willing to help promptly with all our requests.
Once arrived, we had some drizzle on the way, but soon the weather changed and sunshine start showing between the clouds.
Upon checked-in, we were taken to our deluxe bedroom with sea view. Vila Joya features 20 rooms and suites, each one different from the last one, with all facing the atlantic ocean.
Their 8 suites facing the ocean have their own personality, for example the Master Royal Suite Alegria, with private garden and private pool, or the two deluxe royal suites (1001 and 2001), are some of the best options.
The prices vary per season, going from 500EUR to 880EUR per night on the deluxe room with terrace where we stayed, up to 1360EUR to 2370EUR per night for the Master Royal Suite.
The Vila Joya 2-star michelin restaurant has a cost of 175EUR P.P. without drinks, and an exceptional price of only 95EUR P.P. if you are staying as guest at Vila Joya.
A special thanks to all Vila Joya Staff, specially to Marita for accomodating all our requests, but also Louise Front Office Manager and Catarina from Reception on arrival.
Never forgetting all restaurant team: starting by Chef Koshina for the fabulous meal, but also their wonderful staff: Paulo and Monica, coordinating all moments, Filipa for helping with details, and Francisco the Sommelier.
Thanks so much to Joy’s parents, Claudia and Klaus, for creating such an amazing place in our country. Joy, keep on the good work!
Below some of the other suites featured at this beautiful place, that I had the pleasure to visit and check in detail.
