Leeds Castle: “The Loveliest Castle In The World”
Sleeping inside a Real Castle
The Leeds Castle in Maidstone/Kent was one of the highlights of this trip. Found this beautiful place by searching online for castles to stay around London, and was perfect. After did some research, decided to book for the Maiden’s Tower, which is exactly inside the castle, the unique and unforgettable rooms at the tower of the castle. The Leeds Castle was built over 1000 years ago, and it became famous during Henry VII rule, when he used it as a residence for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.
With its beautiful 500 acres of total area, the Leeds Castle it’s one of the most famous attractions in England, for day trips and tours to visit the castle and it’s gardens. Yearly more than 500.000 people visit the castle, being today the 35th most popular tourist site in the UK.
The castle has an admission fee of £24GBP, for those who wish to visit for a day.
But that was not our case. We slept at the castle. The 16th century Maiden’s Tower at Leeds Castle has only 5 huge beautifully decorated and unique rooms, with breath-taking views and en-suite bathrooms, all beautifully decorated in period style with a contemporary twist. We took the Catherine of Valois room, the Queen Consort, daughter of King Charles VI of France, and wife of King Henry V of England.
The rooms are huge, with en suite double rooms starting at £260GBP per night. For what you get, it’s a bargain!
To reach the tower you have to cross through double security checks, specially at night, where everything is desert.
If you enjoy quietness, relaxing at an old English fortress, with the luxury and comfort of their beautiful rooms, then don’t skip this place! Totally recommended, and looking forward to repeat!
We also had an awesome activity with their Falconry Experiences, provided directly by the Leeds Castle Falconry staff, including all types of birds of prey such as Falcons, Eagles, Owls and much more.
The beautiful Gatehouse, just next to our bedrooms at the Maiden’s Tower, embraces 900 years of history of this wonderful castle. It’s free of cost for guests of the palace, including exploring all grounds and gardens for free.
